Diary of a Worship Leader

When you are on stage, you don't bring yourself. You have to right away ask God to lead you. You will never be able to worship Him with your own spirit. It's almost impossible to come with a lot of burdens in heart. And you don't want to come up with a sour face, either. So, what to do?

Yes, you're responsible to bring the congregation laying down their loads to the Lord so that they can hear the Word of God! But, you're just a human. That's a huge job. You know your life, your thoughts, your sins. Nothing is good enough to bring into His presence.

The 'weird' thing is He still wants you. It's a bitter sweet fact. Sometimes I think it's just my imagination that He always wants us, His people. I learn that other than this fact is a lie. (Please read Isaiah 43: 1-7). So, what are we going to present in front of our good Lord, our Defender and Redeemer?

Nothing, but our praises. Nothing, but our thanksgiving. That's a pleasing sacrifice, and a healing for your soul. I've read a book that says praises to God can bring healing to people and releases spiritual gifts. I believe it's true. I do know that those praises heal the wounded hearts. That's powerful!

With the angels, we sing to the One. Isn't it great? You give performance to the One who loves you dearly with the everlasting love. You don't want to come as a blameful and dirty bride, all you think is coming as a beautiful bride.

Yes, you will feel lots of pressure before coming up on the stage, like a bride coming to her groom. The pressure will cease away as you meet the eyes of the groom and find love in them, the unshaken love. You will feel that you don't want to end.

    I'm so blessed :)

We need the reminders just as much, and we get them, every time we lead worship. If one of the purposes of worship is to open people to God, then as the leaders, we must be the first to open up.

Though no one is entirely sure what we’ll be doing in heaven, one thing is certain: we’ll be worshiping God. What more significant role could there be, then, than helping people learn how to worship God now?

  2. Thank you for the comment, Ms. Anonymous Eliz, I believe our good Lord is raising worship leaders all over the world to help His people to come to His presence with joy and thanksgiving in hearts. God bless you, Eliz :)
